Bruno Huber

Vice President of Operations – Asia
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts

The best thing about my job is meeting people, and get inspired to inspire others” is Bruno Huber’s professional motivation.

This philosophy dates back to 1985, when his first hotel manager role required him to create a summer cultural activities programme at the Hôtel Roc et Neige resort in the scenic Swiss mountains. “I learned early in my career that if you are passionate about something, just do it – and focus on the positive developments of each new initiative.”

Such a proactive attitude has served Huber, who is Vice President of Operations for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Asia, well. He has gained a wealth of hospitality industry experience while holding various senior positions in Switzerland, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Egypt and Jordan.

He has also been acclaimed as an eco-friendly innovator. While General Manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea, Huber was named Green Hotelier of the Year at the 2011 Hotelier Middle East Awards. The accolade recognised his commitment to sustainable practices and his work with the local community.

Huber is a motivated man, and he has always relished new challenges. Prior to joining Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in 2003, he held high-profile roles for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Starwood Hotels, MEGA Hotels Hong Kong, Amari Hotels, Imperial Hotels Group and the Société des Hôtels Méridien. His experience in China includes an 18-month stint as General Manager at The Great Wall Sheraton in Beijing, and Opening General Manager of the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Kunming.

Bringing a diversity of international experience, Huber initially joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts as General Manager of the El Quseir Resort on Egypt’s Red Sea. He later moved on to become General Manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea and Regional Manager for Jordan. In September 2012, Huber relocated to the Mövenpick Hotels & Resort’s Asia regional office in Bangkok to take up his current role.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is known for high-quality, personalised service, Huber says. “Hotels are a melting pot of people from many walks of life. We have a commitment to fulfil dreams and delight our returning guests who, in turn, encourage their friends and colleagues to stay with us. We want guests to feel at home and become proud advocates of the memorable experiences we can create.”

When not working Huber is an inveterate traveller with a keen interest in travel photography. His other passions include being a collector and listener of jazz music and a connoisseur of fine food and wine. Above all, he enjoys taking time out to spend with his family.

Born and educated in Switzerland, Huber is a graduate of the Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland, and holds a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investment and Asset Management from Cornell University.
